Process OF ORDERING A CAKE

In 2014 I planned my own wedding, finally learning first-hand about the process no one can ever convey—the sense of endless details to consider, the consuming moments, and the growth required in the relationship to focus shared interests and bring everything to life. It is my hope that the process of working with me and my team feels inspiring and easy, so you can focus on the rich emotional event of creating a deeper mutual commitment with your love, amidst your family and community.

You will go down in our history as the best partner for our cake that we could’ve ever wished for. You surpassed any expectation we could’ve ever had, and did it so gracefully and beautifully. We loved our cake, but we loved the person who made it even more. You’re incredibly talented, but the true treasure that is you, relies on the extraordinary human being you are, and we are truly blessed and lucky and fortunate to have had met you, and to have had the opportunity to get one of your master pieces.

The beginning of the process! Please let us know the date and location of your special day, plus estimated guest count, and any other details you would like to include. To begin the process, we ask that you book with a deposit to secure your date! With your deposit, the next step (tasting) is on us!

If you are needing more time to decide whether JRC is the best cake vendor for you , we are happy to start with a paid tasting.

tasting

First, we’ll talk about the feel and vision for your wedding. I’ll ask you to peruse my portfolio and put your thoughts on loudspeaker so I can get to know a bit about how you respond to different design aesthetics. I’ll sketch on the spot while you taste a unique offering of our weekly cake flavors, made freshly for you. Then we’ll discuss details until we’re happy with your cake design. You’ll pick flavors for your cake—you are never limited to the options you taste, and are welcome to mix/match/add/edit.
If an in-person meeting isn’t in the cards, we are happy to offer Zoom consultations with a tasting box pickup/delivery.

proposal

Within 2 weeks of designing your cake, we’ll send you a proposal with inspiration images, the sketch from our consultation meeting, and a description of the cake we designed. We consider the cake stand an extension of the cake and will source or semi-fabricate it to be kept as a keepsake. If you'd like anything adjusted, including cake size, we are happy to make any changes up until 4 weeks before your event.

delivery

A lot goes into caring for the cake all the way through to its delivery. A couple weeks in advance, I take into consideration the expected weather of the day, location on property, leveling the table, viability and design of the cake stand, proportion to the display table, etc. Your planner may be considering some of these things, but ultimately, they will be looking to me for expertise about how best to manage your work of art, and furthermore, to anticipate any issues that might be specific to the parameters of your unique cake.

After your wedding

Studio Shots
I take studio-worthy photos of your cake before delivering so you can see it singularly, free of its busy surroundings, in natural light. Please feel free to request these complimentary photos at any point.

Anniversary Cakes
We hope to create a small token of your original cake to celebrate your anniversary(ies).
